Daniel Cormier Wants To “Unify” UFC And WWE Titles

So, what does Daniel Cormier think about Brock Lesnar becoming the WWE Universal champion once more?

“Brock, when you come, bring that brand new WWE title too,” said Cormier, after defending his UFC heavyweight title at UFC 230 Saturday night. “I feel like being a WWE champion too. Bring that belt with you if you come to my house.”

Cormier made his first successful title defense with a submission of Derrick Lewis inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, months after winning the title with a finish of Stipe Miocic. He is also the UFC light heavyweight champion for the time being.

As for Lesnar, he recently re-claimed the WWE title in Saudi Arabia with a win over Braun Strowman. He appeared the night “DC” bested Miocic, challenging him inside the Octagon.

Lesnar’s suspension for a failed drug test would allow him to return to action next year, and all sides have discussed the possibility of just that happening. Cormier eluded to a fight with the former UFC heavyweight champion at UFC 235 next year as being his retirement bout, but adding that he has plenty of other career moves in the works.

“Brock is a beast,” Cormier said. “Can you imagine the visual of me standing across the Octagon from Brock Lesnar?

“He’s a guy that is going to push me and I’m excited about it.”

Cormier also discussed his long-time rival Jon Jones following the fight, responding to comments Jones made about not granting him a title shot if he is successful vs. Alexander Gustafsson in December for the belt.

“Who are you to grant me anything,” Cormier asked. “I’m the guy that’ been here the whole time. I’ve been light heavyweight champion three years because you can’t stay out of trouble.”
