Monday Night Raw (10/1/2018) Recap & Results

Ringside Intel brings you live play-by-play, results and viewing party for tonight’s WWE Monday Night Raw (10/1/2018) broadcast. Pre-show starts at 7:50 pm EST and the main show at 8 pm EST. Monday Night Raw: 8 pm EST

Show opens up and Dean Ambrose is interviewed about whether he is going to leave The Shield. He says The Shield is a brotherhood, not a business. Then Raw General Manager Baron Corbin comes out and ends up making a match between Ambrose and Braun Strowman.

Singles Match: Braun Strowman vs. Dean Ambrose

Bell sounds and Ambrose starts working on Strowman’s legs but Strowman ends up booting him in the face. Strowman puts Ambrose in a neck-crank. He employs a methodical pace as he beats Ambrose down. Commercial break.

Back again and Ambrose is trying to get back in it. He goes for Dirty Deeds but Strowman blocks. Ambrose ends up knocking Strowman to the outside. Back in the ring and Ambrose dropkicks Strowman but then gets caught as Strowman drives him to the mat with a shot. Strowman goes for the Powerslam but Ambrose spikes him with Dirty Deeds. He pins. 1-2-… but Strowman kicks out. They end up outside the ring and Strowman goes smashing into the steel ring-steps as Ambrose evades his charge.

Back in the ring and Strowman delivers a Powerslam and both men are down. Strowman picks up the assault and lands another Powerslam. Then, he looks for another but Universal Champion Roman Reigns comes out. Seth Rollins also comes out and the two men send Strowman toppling over the top rope and out to ringside. The ref calls for the disqualification.

Winner: Braun Strowman (DQ)

Corbin comes back out with Raw Tag Team Champions Drew McIntyre and Dolph Ziggler. He sets up a match between Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre for later tonight. And also, he sets up a match between Roman Reigns and Dolph Ziggler… which will start now.

Backstage and Ambrose is mad that his Shield mates interfered and cost him the match. Rollins tries to explain but Ambrose is having none of it. He tells Rollins he could be Intercontinental Champion right now, and he stares coldly at Rollins…

Singles Match: Roman Reigns vs. Dolph Ziggler

Match begins and Ziggler comes out aggressively. Reigns fends him off and levels Ziggler with a shot. Ziggler gets back in it and ends up putting Reigns in a rear-naked choke. Reigns starts to fight his way out of it but Ziggler yanks him back down to the mat and drops an elbow for a 2-count. They battle to the outside and Ziggler spikes Reigns with a big DDT on the floor. Back in the ring and Ziggler plants Reigns with a Famouser. He pins but Reigns gets his shoulder up at 2. Commercial break.

Back again and Ziggler is wrenching on a chokehold. Reigns tries to escape but then Ziggler switches and jumps to the sleeper hold. Reigns drives Ziggler back and knocks him loose on the turnbuckle. Now Reigns starts putting his attacks together. He levels Ziggler with a leaping clothesline and then lands 10 clubbing blows in the corner as the crowd counts along. Reigns completes the set with a big boot to Ziggler’s face. Reigns goes for a Superman Punch but Ziggler evades.

Ziggler hits the ZigZag and pins. 1-2-… but Reigns kicks out. Ziggler gets himself fired up and starts tuning up the band. He goes for the Superkick but Reigns counters with the Superman Punch. He pins. 1-2-… but Ziggler won’t be put away. Reigns sits contemplatively on his knees, trying to figure out his next move. He goes to the corner and howls at the sky before charging for the Spear. Ziggler moves and goes for a pin but Reigns kicks out. They scramble and Reigns takes Ziggler in half with a Spear for the victory.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Singles Match: Ronda Rousey vs. Ruby Riott

Match gets underway and the two women lock up. Rousey starts hitting some throws and sends Ruby rolling out to ringside to regroup with the rest of the Riott Squad. Back in the ring and Rousey takes control again but Ruby baits Rousey into a trap and gains the advantage. Ruby knocks Rousey into the barricade and then pins her in the ring for a 2-count. Ruby starts to employ a methodical pace now. Ruby bullies Rousey around the ring and attempts a couple pins but Rousey stays in it.

Ruby goes for the Riott Kick but Rousey blocks and hits a big throw. Now Rousey starts to rage out and lands some punching combos and then a big slam. The Riott Squad jumps up on the apron for the distraction and Ruby nearly rolls Rousey up. Rousey plants Ruby with a big move and then taps her out with the Armbar.

Winner: Ronda Rousey

Singles Match: Bobby Roode (with Chad Gable) vs. Konor (with Viktor)

Konor takes control early as he delivers a beatdown to Roode. Roode finally evades an attack and hits a drop toe-hold, sending Konor face-first into the turnbuckle. Roode follows up with a clothesline off the top rope. Viktor ends up interfering and Konor is able to capitalize with a gut-wrench slam for the victory.

Winner: Konor

Tag Team Match: The Revival vs. The B-Team

The B-Team picks up the quick win.

Winners: The B-Team

After the match, the Authors of Pain come out and attack the B-Team from behind. AoP leaves them laid out in the ring.

Roman Reigns tries to see if Ambrose is ok and Ambrose still looks perturbed and tells Reigns he could have beaten Strowman earlier if he hadn’t interfered. Then he tells Reigns that if he wasn’t such a nice guy, he might be Universal Champion right now, echoing the sentiments Ambrose had also iterated to Rollins about the IC Title earlier.

Backstage, Braun Strowman tells McIntyre and Ziggler that he thinks Ambrose would fit in well with them. He’s a tough bastard, Strowman says. Strowman tells them both that they need winners, and they don’t need any weak links. Strowman stares hard at Ziggler as he states that last bit. Strowman walks off and Ziggler looks to McIntyre, who simply walks off and leaves Ziggler alone.

Singles Match: Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre

Bell sounds and McIntyre asserts his strength advantage and then slaps Rollins across the face. Rollins doesn’t take kindly to the disrespect and fires back. They scramble and Rollins knocks McIntyre out of the ring and then follows up with a suicide dive. Back in the ring and McIntyre regains control and starts punishing Rollins with submissions. They end up on the apron together and McIntyre throws Rollins spine-first into the post. McIntyre hits a sidewalk slam from the steel steps onto the ring apron and Rollins grimaces in pain. Commercial break.

Back again and Rollins connects with a slingblade and then a blockbuster. He pins but McIntyre kicks out. They jockey for position until Rollins hits a Falcon Arrow for a near-fall. Rollins goes to the top rope but McIntyre heads him off and sets up a move but Rollins escapes and hits a buckle-bomb. Dolph Ziggler ends up running out and causing a distraction and McIntyre capitalizes and picks up the win.

Winner: Drew McIntyre

After the match, Reigns and Ambrose run out to Rollins’ aid but Strowman joins Ziggler and McIntyre. A brawl ensues, ultimately ending with The Shield being left laid out in the ring as Strowman, Ziggler and McIntyre stand triumphantly over them.

Elias and Kevin Owens are in the ring and they get the crowd all riled up while cutting a promo about John Cena. They insult Cena, and also the crowd, relentlessly. Then, Bobby Lashley’s manager Lio Rush comes out (Elias & Kevin Owens will face Cena & Lashley this weekend at Super Showdown in Australia). Rush starts to bag on Elias and Owens and tells them to prepare themselves because tonight they’ve got the “heavyweight that’s ready to dominate”: Bobby Lashley. At this, Lashley comes out.

Singles Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens

Match begins and Lashley takes control early. Owens fires back and grabs a headlock. Lashley breaks free and sends Owens rolling to the outside for a breather after a big shot. Back in the ring and Lashley continues his assault and plants Owens with a powerslam. He hoists Owens up on his shoulders but Owens slides off and side-steps as Lashley charges toward him. Lashley is sent shoulder-first into the ring post. Commercial break.

Back again and Lashley fights Owens off of him and then starts to make a comeback. Lashley plants Owens with a spinebuster. Elias and Lio Rush start to fight on the outside and Elias starts ragdolling him. Lashley gets distracted and Owens hits a quick rollup for the surprise win.

Winner: Kevin Owens

After the match, Owens and Elias put a beating on Rush and Lashley. Lashley’s partner for Saturday, John Cena, is nowhere to be seen. Owens hits Lashley with a Pop-up Powerbomb and then Elias and Owens hug it out as the crowd boos.

Singles Match: Bayley (with Finn Balor) vs. Alicia Fox (with Jinder Mahal & Sunil Singh)

Bell sounds and Fox takes control of the match as she hits a move and slaps on a chin-lock. Fox continues her assault until Bayley manages to flapjack Fox onto the turnbuckle. Now Bayley starts picking up steam. Bayley dropkicks Fox and then goes to hit the ropes. Jinder grabs her foot and throws her off. Balor comes around and attacks Jinder. In the ring Bayley and Fox scramble until Bayley hits the finish.

Winner: Bayley

To close the show, Hall Of Famer and arguably the greatest of all time Shawn Michaels comes out to hype up this weekend’s Super Showdown main event between Triple H and The Undertaker. He says Undertaker made it personal between them and now he will be backing up his best friend Triple H because Taker’s brother Kane will be in his corner. Kane’s music hits and he comes out and attacks Michaels. Then Undertaker comes out and the two brothers stand over Michaels. Taker drags his thumb across his throat and goes for the tombstone.

Suddenly’ Triple H’s music hits and he comes out to the rescue. The crowd goes crazy. Triple H slugs it out with Taker and Kane and holds his own and Michaels gets back to his feet. But Taker and Kane turn the tide and hit tandem chokeslams on H and Michaels. The crowd chants for Undertaker. Taker goes over and tombstones Triple H to top it all off. The crowd chants “One more time!” They don’t get it.
