How Would Khabib Nurmagomedov do in a Boxing Match With Floyd Mayweather? Michael Bisping Weighs-In

Yes, the chances of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Floyd Mayweather actually fighting are slim to none, but due to Khabib’s recent challenge to the undefeated boxer, here we are talking about it. Case in point, recently Michael Bisping weighed-in on the theoretical match-up.

Following Nurmagomedov’s recent challenge to the undefeated fighter (which didn’t really say it was for a boxing bout, over a MMA bout did it?), it wasn’t long before Mayweather relayed he was down to fight (although, in his case, he has outright said it would be a boxing match…of course).

Well, during the latest “Believe You Me” podcast, Bisping had some interesting things to say, while weighing in on how Nurmagomedov would do in a boxing match with Floyd (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“I swear to God, Khabib would go the distance with Mayweather,” said Bisping. “He’d go the distance with Mayweather. I’m not saying Khabib is a better boxer than McGregor, he’s not a better striker, he’s not as elusive, he’s not as slick – but he’s got a f**king chin and he’s got cardio for days. And Mayweather, at his age, he was never a knockout guy even though he did have some knockouts. He knocked out England’s very own Ricky Hatton in devastating fashion, but I don’t see it.”

“He couldn’t put McGregor down and that’s what Khabib’s saying – you couldn’t put McGregor down, I put McGregor down – but he put McGregor down through fatigue and that was his game plan. McGregor was very, very tired and he started eating shots, and in the end he couldn’t even fight back because he was so exhausted and kind of beat up, so the referee stepped in. That wouldn’t happen against Khabib. Mayweather would probably embarrass him and light him up and pick him apart all night long, but Khabib would probably go 12 rounds. Conor wasn’t far away from going 12 rounds.”

There you have it, and Bisping’s probably on point here. The chances of Khabib defeating Floyd in a boxing match are likely nil, but, the vaunted grappler might have what it takes to go the distance with “Money”.

Of course, all this talk is essentially, pointless. It’s hard to imagine that there’s any real market for a Mayweather – Nurmagomedov boxing match (although Bisping reportedly thinks the fight would do pretty well). How many people would really be interested in seeing this? In either the boxing world or MMA? Especially since we went this route last year with Conor, who is a very talented striker, and he came up short (as everyone predicted).
