Monday Night Raw (9/17/2018) Results: Reigns Retains, Rousey & Bellas Brawl With Riott Squad

Tag Team Match: Authors of Pain vs. Jobbers

AoP dismantles the jobbers with a brutal assault and Akam pins for the 3-count.

Ziggler tries to see if Rollins wants to back out of their match tonight, but Rollins says that won’t be happening.

Intercontinental Championship Match: Seth Rollins (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler

The match gets underway and the two men go back and forth. Rollins ends up going for the superplex into the Falcon Arrow but Ziggler counters. Rollins transitions with a counter of his own and plants Ziggler with a Stomp for the 3-count to retain the title.

Winner: Seth Rollins (c)

Raw Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey comes out and she thanks Alexa Bliss for pushing her to the limit last night. Because Rousey wants to be the best champion that the fans have ever seen. She wants to be like Bret Hart, Steve Austin, Ric Flair… And that’s why Rousey is issuing an open challenge for the title right now. Unexpectedly, Rousey’s best friend Natalya’s music hits, but Natalya gets blindsided by the Riott Squad. Ruby Riott says she’ll be answering the open challenge.

The match doesn’t get officially underway and the Riott Squad ends up ganging up on Rousey and putting a beating on her. Then the Bella Twins run out to her rescue. The Riott Squad is driven into retreat as Rousey and the Bellas stand tall in the ring.

Elias comes out to play a song and do his shtick. He tells the fans he knows how bad this show can be before he shows up. If it were up to him it would be 3-hours of Elias. He starts to talk trash about Bobby Lashley, saying he’s a disappointment who can never get the victory when it counts. Suddenly, Lio Rush comes out and starts cutting a promo on Elias. Rush tells him he plays the same diss track over and over again. It’s embarrassing. Elias asks why some kid is running loose on the ramp right now.

Rush laughs it off and reintroduces himself. He is the man of the hour. He is Lio Rush. Elias says he doesn’t care. He’ll get someone to take Rush up to the lost and found to wait for his parents to pick him up. Rush laughs and says that’s good. He heard Elias had jokes… or that he was a joke, or something like that. Rush says without further adieu, Bobby Lashley. Lashley’s music hits and he comes out smiling.

Singles Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Elias

The match gets underway and Lio Rush, who would appear to be Lashley’s new manager, is sitting at the commentary booth. Rush talks some trash about Kevin Owens, who attacked his client a couple week ago. Owens comes out and attacks Rush. Rush runs down to the ring and Lashley and Rush end up driving Owens and Elias out and away from the ring.

Tag Team Match: Alicia Fox & Mickie James vs. Ember Moon & Nia Jax

Fox and Moon tie up and Fox shoulder-tackles Moon. Mickie tags in and continues the offensive, scoring a 2-count on Moon. Fox and Mickie end up at ringside and Moon hits a suicide dive out onto both of them. Back in the ring and Mickie regains control of the match. She tags Fox and they start cutting the ring off and isolating Moon away from her corner, where Jax anxiously looks on. Mickie slaps on a rear chin-lock. Moon starts to get back in it but Mickie stifles her momentum.

Fox tags in and maintains the beatdown on Moon. Moon finally makes some space and tags Jax, who comes in hot. Jax starts battering both Fox and Mickie. She tosses Fox around the ring and runs her over like a bulldozer. She pins but Mickie saves the count. Moon comes off the top rope with an Eclipse on Mickie. Jax plants Fox with a Samoan Drop and that’s a wrap.

Winners: Ember Moon & Nia Jax

Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Baron Corbin

Bell sounds and Reigns takes control early. He beats Corbin to the outside and then lands a drive-by. Back in the ring now and Reigns charges in. Corbin moves and Reigns goes shoulder-first into the ring-post. Corbin plants Reigns and pins but Reigns kicks out. Commercial break.

Back again and Corbin connects with a chokeslam-backbreaker and gets a near-fall. Corbin is furious that it wasn’t enough to seal the deal. Corbin slaps on a patented rest-hold. Reigns stands up and the women and children cheer loudly. Reigns starts to make his comeback and he lands ten clubbing blows in the corner. Reigns sets up for the finish but Corbin rolls to the outside. Reigns goes after him and clunks him with a Superman Punch. Back in the ring and Reigns looks for the Spear but Corbin rolls out of the ring again.

Reigns chases him and Corbin ends up throwing a chair at Reigns and laying him out at ringside. The ref calls for the disqualification.

Winner: Roman Reigns (DQ)

Corbin says he’s the general manager and asks for the match to be restarted as a No Disqualification match.

Universal Championship Match (No DQ): Roman Reigns (c) vs. Baron Corbin

Corbin comes after Reigns with a chair but Reigns levels him before he can use it. Reigns makes like he’s about to use the chair himself, but then Braun Strowman’s music hits. Strowman takes his time strutting down the ramp and Corbin takes advantage of the distraction and clocks Reigns. Strowman gets to the ring and starts battering Reigns. Strowman charges at Reigns and ends up going shoulder-first into the ring-post. Corbin hits Reigns with a Deep Six and pins. 1-2-… but Reigns kicks out.

Suddenly McIntyre and Ziggler run out to Corbin’s aid. Then Rollins and Ambrose come out to Reigns’ aid. Reigns hits Corbin with a Superman Punch and he rolls out of the ring. Rollins and Ambrose hit tandem suicide dives out onto Ziggler and McIntyre. Reigns tries to do a big leap over the top rope but Corbin cracks him with a punch from the apron. Reigns stumbles back and Corbin comes after him, only to be taken in half by a Spear and pinned for the 3-count.

Winner: Roman Reigns (c)
