The WWE Universe is buzzing after the announcement of the first-ever exclusively women’s PPV, Evolution. Evolution will take place on October 28th from the Nassau Coliseum in New York. During the announcement, Stephanie McMahon stated that every female title in WWE (including the NXT Women’s title) would be defended at the event. The show will also feature the finals of the second Mae Young Classic. Stephanie also said the event would feature over 50 female wrestlers. Since there aren’t 50 women on the main roster, that leaves plenty of empty spots.
Several NXT stars are expected to make their main roster debuts. Several legends, most of whom competed in the inaugural Women’s Royal Rumble, will also compete. Trish Stratus, Lita, and Beth Phoenix are all confirmed to compete. It is unclear if they’ll be there in a wrestling capacity or just as guests. Glamour is reporting that the Bella Twins will also be in attendance
Potential Match-Ups
We are three months out from the PPV, and WWE has not indicated any match-ups for “Evolution.” But that doesn’t mean we can’t do a bit of fantasy booking. Noting their brawling during the Royal Rumble, many fans want Trish Stratus to face off against Sasha Banks. With the Bella Twins confirmed, the masses are calling for a match against the IIconics. Those would be fun! I want to see a healthy mix of legends and up-and-comers, but I want the women on the roster now to be the focus. Asuka, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and others should be on or near the main event. Though, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ronda Rousey main evented the show either. There is still no official words on women’s tag belts. Stephanie did downplay the possibility in an interview about Evolution with Sky Sports
“Not quite yet but that’s absolutely something we’ve heard loud and clear from our fan base and it’s something we’re keen on implementing as soon as we are able to,”
