Ronda Rousey Learned Something New At Her Live Event Debut

Ronda Rousey might be the “Baddest Woman On the Planet,” but she’s still a rookie when it comes to WWE – a fact that became all too obvious when she revealed that she only just learned how to climb the turnbuckle.

Before she squares off against Nia Jax for the Raw Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank, Rousey is cutting her teeth on the competition on WWE’s European tour. She made her live event debut in Geneva, Switzerland on Wednesday. Rousey teamed up with Natalya and Ember Moon to take on Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, and Mickie James. As you can see in the videos below, Rousey submitted James with her signature armbar to pick up the win for her team.

However, Rousey wasn’t quite sure how to celebrate following her victory. Luckily, Natalya was there to show her the ropes – literally. “I made her go to the turnbuckle,” Natalya told WWE after their match. “She has a really demanding mom voice,” Rousey added. Watch below.
Well, Rousey needs to work on her victory pose – but she’ll get there.

I have to say, Rousey’s candid admission that she had no idea how to stand on the turnbuckle actually made me like her more. UFC Rousey didn’t display much of a personality, but that’s not the case with WWE Rousey. I feel like she’s finally getting to be her true self, while also still being a bad ass.

Furthermore, I like that Rousey’s not acting like she’s some preternaturally gifted phenom who should be handed opportunities on a silver platter. Even though I think WWE absolutely jumped the gun on giving her a title shot at Money in the Bank, at least Rousey has made it clear that she wants to earn her way to the top just like everyone else. And, hopefully, once she gets there she won’t disappear like a certain other ex-UFC fighter.
