30 Facts About Your Favorite WWE Stars

Wrestlers are people too. They have lives beyond what we see in the ring and on TV. Some of them are animal lovers, bookworms, and have relatives more famous than they are!

We’ve compiled dozens of the most fun most random facts we could think of about our favorite WWE Superstars. Let’s start off with the Face That Runs The Place, and the weird way he got into wrestling.

Before Cena flexed on TV, he flexed on the stage. Young Cena was shredded for sure! It was his training in the gym that initially got the interest of wrestling promoters. He began training at UWF in Californa before moving to WWE’s developmental territory OVW.

Our next fact also involves the head of the Cenation, but it is decidedly less cool.

John Cena is a busy man. He travels around the world and seems to be constantly working. That sort of drive necessitates some order, as demonstrated in how he handles dirty clothes in his house.

Next up, we’ll learn about John Cena’s long-time rival and his chequered past.

Before Randy was the best-worst wrestler of all time, he had a brief stint in the Marines. But as he’s often done, Randy decided he didn’t want to do it anymore. Orton went AWOL and served time in military jail for desertion before he began his career in the ring.

Next, the most feared man in wrestling history has a pretty funny phobia.

The most robust and most respected man in wrestling history hates these particular green vegetables. Here’s what Paul Bearer had to say about it:

“He cannot stand cucumbers … I saw The Undertaker throw up all over a waffle house because there was a cucumber floating in his iced tea,”

Let’s further humanize the Deadman with this fun fact!

Yes, the Undertaker is a fearsome man in the ring, but out of the ring, he’s a bit of a softie. He owns several dogs and even founded a fund at a veterinarian school to pay for surgeries for large-breed dogs.

Speaking of pets, our next three are the weirdest pet owners in WWE.

Larry-Steve, a teacup pig, is the pet of Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss and her fiance, 205 Live star Buddy Murphy. Larry-Steve even starred on Total Divas.

Alexa isn’t the only female superstar with a pet pig though.

Another firey blonde also owns a little piggy. Smackdown Liv(e) star Liv Morgan is the owner of a small Piggles who frequently stars on her social media accounts. A few months back, Piggles went missing, and the entire WWE Universe worked together to bring the little Piggles all the way home.

From swine to salamanders?

Known for being a villainous and venomous villain throughout his career, it is no surprise that NXT General Manager William Regal has a love for collecting reptiles of all shapes and scales.

Up next, WWE stars who collected something considerably less cool before they became Superstars.

Some people take a different route to WWE, even when your dad is a Hall of Fame wrestler. Before joining up, Jimmy and Jey were in the furniture business.

“For six years post-college, they worked 9 p.m. to 5 p.m. selling office furniture, making a wrestling show here or there if they could.

“We had a family,” he said. “We had to make ends meet somehow. Still, we eventually knew we had to do something and selling office furniture wasn’t it.”

That all changed when they started training with Booker T.

Here’s another big-time Superstar with an odd-job before WWE.

Independent wrestling doesn’t all pay the bills. Sometimes you need a real job to pay for your wrestling hobby, as Tracey Smothers famously says. Becky Lynch, during her time in and out of wrestling, held a variety of odd jobs. Perhaps the most unique was her time as a flight attendant. How did her fiery personality go with people asking for one more glass of wine?

Another fun fact about Becky Lynch is next!

WWE has a lot of wrestlers from Ireland. Apart from Australia, they might be the most over-represented nationality in the company. That is due in no-small-part to the work of Finn Balor. He single-handedly created the wrestling scene in Ireland and trained many of the top stars himself. That includes fellow Irishwoman, Becky Lynch. Lynch credits Balor with her career taking off as it did.

Speaking of the Balor Club, let’s take a look at the side-job of one of the other Good Brothers.

There are a lot of tattooed members of the WWE roster. But one of the biggest is Luke Gallows. The member of the Balor Club and former Tag Team champion loves his ink. So much so that he bought a stake in a shop. He is part owner of the Painted Gypsy tattoo parlor in Conyers, Georgia.

Let’s take a look at another star’s tattooed connections.

Lots of wrestlers have tattoos, and most of them have an interesting story behind them. Here’s Rollins describing the Bushido code he has tattooed down his back.

No wonder Banks has such a swaggy attitude; it comes naturally. The Boss counts Snoop Dogg as her cousin. And that’s her real cousin, not like the “wrestling” version of cousins where everyone is related. Snoop even performed with Sasha at Wrestlemania 31!

Next up, another part of The Boss’s confidence comes from real close to home.

Sasha Banks is a superstar in and out of the ring. She also has some amazing gear. That can be credited to her costume designer and husband, Kid Mikaze. The former indie star moved to WWE with Banks and now works for the company as a costume designer.

Another real-life fact that influences the character of a big WWE star.

Lana plays a villainous Russian character, but on Total Divas, CJ Perry is an average American girl. So, where did the Russian come from? Well, from Russians. Lana is the child of Christian missionaries, so even though she’s American she lived a large part of her life in the Soviet state of Latvia.

Speaking of exciting traits, let’s take a look at one from the boss himself

[tps_title]Vince McMahon Hates Sneezing[/tps_title]

You don’t become a billionaire without having a few quirks and eccentricities. Vince’s are well-known and the stuff of legend. But this one is the weirdest. Vince hates disease and sneezing. Here’s what Business Insider says about it:

“Former WWE creative team members Vince Russo and David Lagana both write that McMahon has been known to tell glassy-eyed employees that ‘there is no such thing as sick.'”

Next up, a bittersweet note about the Nature Boy!

[tps_title]Near Death – Ric Flair remembered everything about wrestling, but not his daughter.[/tps_title]

Ric’s daughter Charlotte opened up about the ordeal and told this bittersweet story of her father’s first steps of recovery after organ failure almost ended the Nature Boy’s life.

When he was first taken off the machine and the doctors wanted to have him walk around, obviously he needed help and support but he didn’t even know who I was, and he was just pushing the walker and quoting numbers of towns from shows in the ’80s. I was like, that’s great he can quote me the numbers from a show in Chicago in the ’80s but he doesn’t know who I am?

Being the Nature Boy is deeply ingrained in him.

So, he is pushing the walker with the nurses and he is pushing and pushing and then he just stops and starts strutting in the ICU. He doesn’t know who I am, isn’t really talking but just does the strut and I was just like this isn’t real.

While we’re on the leaders of WWE, let’s see what Triple H is weird about.

[tps_title]Triple H Doesn’t Like Fruit[/tps_title]

The members of the “Squared Circle” Reddit wanted to get Triple H a fruit basket to celebrate the success of the NXT brand. However, a former WWE insider revealed that Trips doesn’t even like fruits, and instead prefers ham and other meats. You don’t get crazy jacked like that just eating fruit!

Speaking of Trips, let’s discover his weird connection to Kofi Kingston, shall we?

[tps_title]Triple H and Kofi Kingston Were Trained By The Same Man[/tps_title]

What do Triple H, Kofi Kingston, Damien Sandow, Big John Studd, Fandango, NXT head trainer Matt Bloom, and Chyna all have in common? They were all trained under the tutelage of Walter “Killer” Kowalski. After retiring from the ring in the late-70s, Kowalski opened a school in Massachusetts.

Here’s another old person with an odd connection to the WWE. Click next.

[tps_title]Vince McMahon’s Mom Is Still Alive[/tps_title]

[totalpoll id=”13191″]

While she never is talked about much, Vince McMahon’s 97-year-old mother is still alive. Vicki Askew still lives in North Carolina and is an avid tennis player. Her relationship with Vince is strained due to trauma the young VKM experienced at the hands of his mother and a string of stepfathers.

[tps_title]Kane is a Libertarian Scholar[/tps_title]

Kane, aka Glenn Jacobs, is considered by many to be the smartest man in WWE. Daniel Bryan and others have praised the Devil’s Favorite Demon’s intellect. But it goes beyond backstage wisdom. Kane is an actual expert in libertarian thought and Austrian economics. He’s given hour-long lectures on the subject when he isn’t busy running for mayor or chokeslamming people.

This next one takes the “Virture of Selfishness” to another level.

[tps_title]WWE Fired CM Punk On His Wedding Day[/tps_title]

The nastiest feud the WWE has had in a decade was between the company and scorned former champion CM Punk. The fracture was a long-time coming, but WWE perhaps struck a final blow when they sent Punk his termination papers…on his wedding day. That’s pretty brutal.

Punk failed in his UFC debut, let’s move onto a WWE star who aced his.

[tps_title]Brock Lesnar Represented Canada In His Last UFC Fight[/tps_title]

When Brock Lesnar made his brief return to the UFC in 2016, he did it under a different flag. Lesnar moved to a farm near Maryfield, Saskatchewan to farm and continue training, so he felt it only right to represent the Blanc en Rouge.

Let’s look at another WWE mega-legend’s MMA career.

[tps_title]Batista Is Undefeated In MMA Fights[/tps_title]

Batista left WWE for the first time in 2010 to pursue an acting and MMA career. At first, he encountered mixed success. Before he was Drax, he destroyed no-name Vince Lucero in an MMA fight for CES: MMA in 2012. It was Bautista’s first and so far only fight. He returned to WWE again a few years later for a brief run. He has expressed interest in one last full-time run in WWE, but his film commitments seem to stop that from happening.

Speaking of activities outside of the WWE…

[tps_title] Jeff Hardy Is The Lead Singer Of A Nu-Metal Band[/tps_title]

Jeff Hardy is one strange cat. His tattoos and facial hair and general style are “creative.” But did you know that his creativity goes into creating his music? He even formed a band called PeroxWhy?gen. And yes, the music is as weird as you’d think.

Let’s take a look now at some unknown in-ring accomplishments.

[tps_title]Undertaker Has Wrestled In Four Decades[/tps_title]

The Undertaker wasn’t always the Undertaker. He began wrestling in 1984 under the name Texas Red before becoming “Mean Mark” Callous and eventually Kane The Undertaker before settling on just “The Undertaker.” He wrestled in WCW and other territories for six years before he became the Deadman.

Next up, another legend with a career spanning longer than you think.

[tps_title]So Has Golddust[/tps_title]

The original son of a Son of a Plumber, Goldust began his career in 1988 as “the Natural Dustin Rhodes.” It wasn’t until the mid-90s when he became the character that we know and loved today.

Let’s look at another bizarre “carnival” character and how he got into the business.

[tps_title]Mark Henry Got Braun Strowman Into WWE[/tps_title]

During a recent interview with Busted Open Radio, Strowman discussed his wrestling career in detail. He said that a conversation he had with Mark Henry in 2010 put him on the WWE path, so without Mark Henry, we would not be enjoying the Monster Among Men today.

“Truth be told, I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Mark Henry. I traveled around the world doing strongman competition. That’s the first time I met Mark, back in 2010 when I competed as an amateur.”

[tps_title] Linda McMahon Runs The Small Business Administration[/tps_title]

Remember Linda McMahon? The sometimes on-screen and comatose wife of Vince? Well, she’s a pretty powerful lady. Not only did she run the business side of WWE for over 20 years, but she also ran for Senate in Connecticut twice, nearly winning each time. But her political career didn’t end there. With the election of WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump as President, McMahon was appointed to lead the Small Business Administration. A cabinet-level position, leading the SBA involves running government programs designed to help small businesses obtain government-based loans and allows small businesses to earn government contracts. Quite a feat.
