It seems like WWE has (thankfully) turned a corner when it comes to celebrity wrestling matches, meaning that they don’t happen anymore.
Sure, Stephen Amell’s tag team match alongside Neville against Stardust and King Barrett was entertaining and pretty good, but WWE has enough incredible talent that they don’t need to resort to celebrity matches to drum up interest.
That being said, it doesn’t mean it won’t ever happen again, and former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi has expressed interest in wrestling a huge superstar outside the ring: Beyonce.
Appearing on Afterbuzz TV’s Total Divas Aftershow, Naomi said that Beyonce is “great at everything” – but she “can’t be great at wrestling too”:
“I would have to say Beyonce, because she’s my idol. Beyonce is great at everything; you can’t be great at wrestling too. I think that is one thing she’s not good at and I would be better at her.”
I have to agree with Naomi here. Beyonce does seem to be great at everything, and wrestling could indeed be her Achilles’ Heel – but that doesn’t mean anyone wants to see her wrestle. I don’t know about any of you, but I have a feeling that Beyonce inside a wrestling ring would be less Stephen Amell at SummerSlam and more Snooki at WrestleMania.
Besides, WWE’s women’s division is quite literally the best it’s ever been right now. Bringing in a celebrity to take up someone else’s well-deserved spot would be a colossal step backward.
