Kenny Omega Has No Interest In Joining The WWE

While it is no secret that the WWE has quite a bit of interest in one of the hottest indie superstars – Kenny Omega – it seems like Omega has no interest in joining the company anytime soon. Here is the story!

Preferring to Stay in New Japan!

Kenny Omega certainly loves the promotion he is currently wrestling for because his statements indicate he wants to stay in New Japan. He also seems to be comparing the WWE with New Japan, pointing out some crucial differences that are important to him.

Previous interviews with Omega often include the following statement by Omega:

“wrestlers can be themselves and fight for themselves”.

No Love for the WWE Roster

Building a rivalry for his upcoming match with Chris Jericho, or maybe a genuine dislike for wrestlers working for the WWE has led Omega to make some nasty statements in the direction of WWE talent.

“WWE, in general — you can quote me on this, I don’t care. Everyone there is so below me. No one can put together a performance like me from there. Anyone that’s copying anyone is copying me. I’m the trend right now. I don’t need to search anyone as an opponent. I don’t need… I don’t need to feel the need to take on anyone from there to prove anything.”

What I Think About the Statements Made By Kenny Omega

A lot of indie wrestlers have this ‘us versus them’ attitude. Honestly, I couldn’t care less. If you are in the WWE, you know you are a talented wrestler worth the investment. Being successful in the indies does not make you any less or any better.

One thing I do genuinely dislike about his statements, even though it’s probably a buildup for his match with Chris Jericho, is the fact he said the WWE is beneath him. Honestly, it is disrespectful to any wrestler on that roster. Since the Bullet Club vs. the WWE shenanigans, I’m tired of the whole Indies are better than WWE thing. I watch wrestling to enjoy the performance and the athleticism of the wrestlers, not to see this whole ‘us versus them’ thing.

Will I watch the match? Even though Chris Jericho is one of my personal favorites, I won’t be watching it. The entire build-up towards it has soured things for me, despite both wrestlers being extremely talented. Still, the match should give Omega some exposure.
