GFW Confirms Return of Alberto El Patron

Alberto El Patron’s future with GFW/Impact is no longer up in the air. During their weekly media call on Tuesday, GFW Creative Team leaders Scott D’Amore, Sonjay Dutt, and “Big” John Gaburick confirmed that they have “factored in” El Patron for their Bound for Glory pay-per-view in October and beyond.

This likely means that El Patron will return in time for the Impact television tapings scheduled to take place before the Bound for Glory PPV. After all, he has a lot of unfinished business in GFW.

Back in August, El Patron was unceremoniously stripped of the GFW Global Championship following the infamous domestic violence incident he had with fiancee Paige at Orlando International Airport. The pair have since been cleared of all charges – and Eli Drake has since become the new GFW Global Champion. Once El Patron makes his big return, his first order of business will undoubtedly be to regain the title he was forced to vacate; which could make for some entertaining television as Johnny Impact (a.k.a. John Morrison) and Eddie Edwards also currently have their sights set on the title.

While I’m still uncertain about El Patron’s influence over Paige, it’s good to hear that he’s taking positive steps into getting his career back on track. Hopefully Paige will follow suit, whether that means returning to WWE or otherwise. She has way too much talent for it all to go to waste.
