Samoa Joe to Become the New WWE Universal Champion at SummerSlam?

With Brock Lesnar finally going back to the UFC (thank god!), there is a lot of talk about who will take the title at SummerSlam. While it is by no means certain the WWE will let Lesnar out of his contract before WrestleMania, we can only hope.

One of the names that is being circulated as a favourite to win the WWE Universal Championship is Samoa Joe. I could not be happier about this, because this man deserves the title more than Brock Lesnar ever did!

Paul Heyman Pushing for Samoa Joe Win

A journalist forĀ Sports IllustratedĀ – Justin Barrasso – reported that Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman, is pushing for Samoa Joe to take the title from Lesnar at SummerSlam. Now, this is what I’m talking about!

If Heyman teams up with Samoa Joe, we have something truly amazing to look forward to. Samoa Joe cuts a mean promo and he loves the wrestling business more than Lesnar ever could. Combine this passion and talent with the promotion qualities of Paul Heyman, and you get a winning combination that could make the WWE loads of cash!

Could Heyman Betray Lesnar?

What is even more interesting is the story-line that could accompany the Samoa Joe’s title grab! If Heyman is set to become the advocate of Samoa Joe, some sort of betrayal must take place for that to happen, especially if Joe faces Lesnar for the title again.

Could Joe Save Raw?

I have to admit that my interest for RAW has gone down tremendously and watching it has almost become a chore every week. One of the main problems is the fact that the show has loads of deserving talent, but a champion who is never there, which leads to a minimal amount of interesting bookings and matches. If Samoa Joe becomes champion, it changes everything!

With Samoa Joe as champion and Heyman as his advocate, the WWE could open the door to countless interesting bookings and rivalries. Just think about main events such as Samoa Joe Vs. Finn Balor, Samoa Joe Vs. Seth Rollins, or Samoa Joe Vs. Braun Strowman. It does not get much better than that! I also suggest that the WWE move Nakamura to RAW if Joe becomes champion, because this is a match I would be dying to see!

That being said, I do not want Joe to become another Lesnar. Even though the man has a lot more talent and passion for wrestling in my opinion, having Paul Heyman in his corner could give a little Lesnar vibe. Still, their combined promotional power could new challenges and opportunities for the WWE.

Conclusion

I am so excited about the potential of Samoa Joe as WWE Universal Champion. Finally, we would have a champion that cares about his profession, and can put on some amazing matches in the process. Do it WWE!
