Ronda Rousey Protege Making The Jump To Wrestling

Another one of Ronda Rousey’s posse is training to become a pro wrestler.

Jessamyn Duke, a bantamweight MMA fighter who formerly competed for UFC and currently competes for Invicta, was spotted training at the Santino Brothers Wrestling Academy in Southern California earlier this week.

Several other NXT and WWE wrestlers have trained at the Santino Brothers school, including Sonya Deville, Zeda, and Eva Marie. Duke was attending a seminar taught by NJPW wrestler Rocky Romero.

Duke is a member of MMA’s Four Horsewomen. Another member of the group, Shayna Baszler, is a participant in the Mae Young Classic. Last month, they had a standoff with WWE’s Four Horsewomen during a taping of the tournament:

And if that’s not enough, a third member of Rousey’s group, Marina Shafir, is engaged to NXT superstar Roderick Strong.

The news of Duke’s pro wrestling training couldn’t have been more timely. Just last week, both UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones and UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino challenged Brock Lesnar and Becky Lynch to fights. Could Duke’s training be in preparation for a showdown between the two Four Horsewomen factions in the near future? We’ll just have to wait and see.
