Katie’s Top 7 WWE Tag Teams!

I love tag team wrestling. In fact, the only thing I probably like more than tag teams are stables (R.I.P. The Shield), so  I thought it would be fun to list the best WWE tag teams of all time.

7. The A.P.A.

Oh my goodness did I love The Acolyte Protection Agency, also known as The A.P.A. While Bradshaw and Faarooq were a certainly great tag team in the ring, winning three WWE World Tag Team Championships, the best thing about them was undoubtedly their backstage poker games and bar fights at the aptly named “Friendly Tap.”

Those segments were also probably just a few of many reasons why my dad didn’t want me watching WWE, but I’m sure even he thinks they’re funny now.

6. Team Hell No

Daniel Bryan and Kane, collectively known as Team Hell No, may have only won tag team gold once, but they’ve definitely gone down in history as one of the most entertaining tag teams of all time.

Dysfunctional dynamic duos always get over, and no one portrayed that better than Team Hell No. Their segments with Dr. Shelby are nothing short of comedic gold.

5. The New Age Outlaws

D-Generation X was the reason I started watching WWE in the first place, so it’s only appropriate that I include DX’s resident tag team, The New Age Outlaws, on this list.

Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are 6-time WWF/E Tag Team Champions, and while they may not have been as athletically exciting as other teams on this list, I don’t know a single WWE fan who grew up during the Attitude Era who can’t recite the iconic opening to Road Dogg’s in-ring promos.

4. The Dudley Boyz

With 9 WWF/E Tag Team Championships, The Dudley Boyz are the most decorated tag team in WWE history. Alongside The Hardy Boyz and Edge and Christian, the Dudley Boyz competed in the first-ever TLC match (although it was called a Triangle Ladder Match) at WrestleMania 2000.

The Dudley Boyz also own one of the best catchphrases in pro wrestling.

“D-Von, get the table!”

3. The New Day

If you’re appalled at the fact that I’ve ranked The New Day above The Dudley Boyz, chalk it up to personal bias; I simply like The New Day better. Who else could have put over unicorn horns, owl hoots, a trombone, and a breakfast cereal called “Booty O’s”? (Yours truly drinks her coffee out of a Booty O’s coffee mug every single morning.)

So yes, I’m biased. But The New Day are the longest-reigning tag team in WWE history, and that’s definitely worth noting.

2. The Hardy Boyz

You had to expect that The Hardy Boyz would be either No. 1 or No. 2 on this list. They defined tag team wrestling during the Attitude Era and revolutionized what it meant to be a high-flier. After all, it’s in part due to their daring ladder stunts that we have the TLC matches we know and love today.

I personally am very excited that they’re back in WWE – and I especially can’t wait for Matt Hardy to be broken.

1. Edge & Christian

Edge and Christian are without a shadow of a doubt the best WWE tag of all time. From their kazoo concerts to their five-second pose “for the benefit of those with flash photography,” Edge and Christian – who totally reek of awesomeness – were far and away the most charismatic and entertaining tag team of the Attitude Era.

Not to mention that they – along with the Dudleyz and the Hardyz – completely revolutionized wrestling as we know it, and racked up 7 WWF Tag Team Championships in the process.

These are just some of my favorite tag teams; there are certainly others worth mentioning both before the Attitude Era and who have yet to hit their prime. Who are some of your favorite WWE tag teams? Share them in the comments below!
