Titus O’Neil Sued After Prank Gone Wrong

After posting photographs of Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman on his social media this week, Titus O’Neil’s problems aren’t over! Now, the WWE Superstar is being sued for allegedly attacking a WWE cameraman. Here’s the story!

Swerved Gone Wrong

If you are familiar with the WWE prank show – Swerved – you know about the cattle prod prank. During this prank, WWE Superstars were zapped during an interview with Dolph Ziggler.

Most superstars falling victim to this prank reacted as expected, but things allegedly got out of hand with Titus O’Neil. According to the WWE cameraman using Titus O’Neil, the WWE superstar lost his mind and kicked the camera out of his hand.

Serious Injury

Donald Anderson, the cameraman who is suing Titus O’Neil, claims that the incident has left him seriously injured. He alleges that the attack left him with major damage to the hand, fingers, and wrist. As a result, he is demanding $1.2 million in damages.

In addition to the alleged injuries he suffered, Donald Anderson also claims he was asked to leave the premises after the incident since WWE staff were “in fear of the possibility of further attacks by Titus”.

More Pranks Gone Wrong

This is not the first time the WWE Superstar got in hot water for a prank gone wrong. In 2016, Titus was suspended for 60 days and fined an additional $5,000 for an incident with Vince McMahon.

The incident took place during Daniel Bryan’s retirement speech. When Vince wanted to left the stage, he was grabbed by Titus O’Neil in a joking manner. However, it was a serious occasion, so this was considered inappropriate by many; this includes Stone Cold Steve Austin who said the following about the situation:

“Vince is 70 [years old] right now and that was a serious moment for him. He was totally in character. He cares about Daniel Bryan. He gets jerked pretty forcibly over there to Titus O’Neil and it was completely inappropriate. This may be pro wrestling/sports entertainment, whatever you want to call it, but that was a serious moment. It’s not a time to be shucking and jiving out there, so lay some type of punishment down. Fine him, this, that, or whatever. I don’t know. Something was appropriate, but when I started hearing the racism things, I was like, ‘I’ve got to roll my eyes and I’ve got to call complete and utter bulls–t in this one.’

If you’re going to suspend somebody, I think 30 [days should suffice]. I think 60 [days] is still a little overreacting. Did something need to happen, a come to Jesus meeting or a stern talking to backstage? Something [needed] to happen because I do believe it was inappropriate. It was the wrong person, at the wrong time.”

My Take On This

Titus O’Neil does not seem like a man who would assault someone deliberately, but my personal opinion does not count in this matter. At first, I believed it was another case of someone smelling money and that they were unfounded allegations. However, then I wondered  – if this was the case, why the WWE was not included in this lawsuit? So, I will keep tabs on this allegation and the lawsuit and see what evidence is brought by the cameraman.
