Wrestling is remarkably popular, so it is no surprise that a new Netflix series about wrestling is about to be released. Glow is a fictional series that tells the story of the 1980’s syndicated women’s professional wrestling circuit – or the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). So, let us take a sneak peek and convince you to watch these series!
The Story
Glow takes place in 1980’s Los Angeles. It follows a struggling actress called Ruth Wilder, who receives an invitation to an audition at a local professional wrestling promotion – Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW).

If you loved Orange is the New Black, chances are you will thoroughly enjoy Glow too, because the series is made by the same people.
When you watch the trailer, you will notice there are many stereotypes derived from actual 80’s women’s wrestling. Since the 80’s and 90’s were the years where women found their way to the main wrestling scene – and the fact that the outfits in the 80’s were outrageously spectacular – this will certainly be an interesting watch.
The Release Date
The release date of this Netflix exclusive series has been released. Good news, because we do not have to wait long to see this on Netflix!
Glow will be starting on June the 23rd. When you head over to Netflix to watch this series, be sure not to confuse it with the older version. Yes, there has been another Glow. Still, this might be an interesting watch too, because this is an actual documentary on the 80’s ladies of wrestling.

Beyond the Mat (1999 Documentary)
Before I continue with this one, I must mention that there are several Beyond the Mat releases. Still, one of my personal favorites is the Beyond the Mat documentary from 1999.
The entire movie lasts about 102 minutes and features wrestling legends such as Terry Funk, Mick Foley, and Jake Roberts. It is certainly a movie that is worth your time and focus, so check it out if you have not seen it yet.
Conclusion
I am certainly looking forward to Glow, but the impending release of this series has also awakened my interest for existing wrestling movies and series again. So, I might have a little binge on them over the weekend.
